The connections between high school educators and faculty in higher education can offer synergistic benefits. This has been very evident over the past decade during the emergence of K-12 computer science (CS). The surge in CS interest has brought together K-12 educators and CS faculty who bring different knowledge and skills that are transferable across different classrooms. This talk will summarize observations and lessons learned from the speaker’s collaboration with K-12 CS educators since 2005. Some of the strategies and projects that helped Alabama improve its position in the K-12 CS context will also be shared.
